When young readers can connect with an author it creates excitement and a new positive connection with books.

Encourage Reading for Fun

Students can understand the written word in a new way when an author discusses writing and the creative process. Q&As with the author can be scheduled for all grades.

Support Classroom Learning
Pre-K through 2nd Grade:  Guided reading lessons are available for grades pre-k through 2nd grade. When these lessons are paired with an author reading the effect is more impactful.

3rd through 5th Grade: Goal-setting, selff-discipline, and perseverance are all skills needed to be an author. Students who see a real world application of these necessary life skills are often more receptive.

Motivate reluctant and struggling readers

There is something special about hearing about the behind-the-scenes process of publishing a book. It creates interest by putting a human face to one specific book which can lead to an increased interest in reading.

Improve writing confidence

Having an author explain the writing process can helps students understand that even the best author's books don't start out perfect. Writing isn't always easy, and can be a messy process. A story can start out with a terrible first draft and through many revisions, turn into a beautiful story.
